A Saturday Well Spent: The London Home Show Spring 2024

On Saturday 13th April, Kate, Harriet and I attended Share to Buy’s 18th London Home Show – the capital’s no.1 event for first time buyers. Tasked with supporting the Home Show’s Instagram for the day, we turned up with our phones, portable chargers, microphone and a coffee in hand, ready for the day ahead.

Ella, Harriet and Kate at The London Home Show

Unlike Kate and Harriet (LHS veterans), this was my first time attending the event. I’d been told what to expect but hadn’t quite anticipated the sheer scope of the day. Arriving half an hour before doors opened, I caught a glimpse of the quiet before the storm. Over 45 exhibitors were set up at Westminster’s QEII Centre - some armed with a spinning wheel, others with a mascot in the form of a life-sized yellow chick – all ready to welcome almost 3,500 guests! A floor up from the main event hall, conference rooms were waiting to host a whole schedule of informative sessions and talks, from workshops on financial assessments and mortgages, to seminars on Shared Ownership. It was set to be a busy day…

Part of our strategy for the London Home Show Instagram account, we invited property influencer and professional Property Finder Lexie Carducci to “takeover” the LHS Stories. I had the pleasure of exploring the show with Lexie, helping her capture behind-the-scenes shots, interviews with both exhibitors and attendees – including Share to Buy’s very own Head of Brand & Content, Jade Turnstill – as well as Lexie’s sold-out ‘Property Personal Shopping’ workshop.

Posting BTS clips of the event across stories gave a great insight into the day – supporting Share to Buy’s very mission of making home buying accessible to all. Lexie and I also had some fun in the process, including chatting to happy guests, playing a round of ‘Bust the Shared Ownership Myth’, and even winning prizes.

Come 2pm, the atmosphere was buzzing, and Harriet and I had some time to wander from stall to stall to capture some content which we planned to edit into a Reel by the end of the day. Lucky for us, plenty of exhibiting team members were more than happy to wave to the camera and show off some freebies – from branded tote bags and key rings to sweets and reusable water bottles. Armed with plenty of clips and footage, we sat down to put together a Reel to showcase what a truly fantastic day we’d had!

The event was a brilliant success and Share to Buy ended the day by announcing that the Home Show is hitting the road and heading to Bristol! The Faust team loved saying hello to some familiar faces, including our pals at L&Q and Guinness Homes, as well as being introduced to some new members of the Share to Buy team.

Another Home Show over, we look forward ‘hitting the road’ and helping the team launch the Bristol show in the coming months.
